Raid Teranga

Place: Dakar  (20 Feb 2020 - 27 Feb 2020 )

Article 1 : Organisation

Daniel Doizé Aventure organizes the third Raid Téranga 250 which will take place between February 20 and February 27, 2015 in Senegal, between Dakar and Saint- Louis. The maximum number of participants is settled to 50.

 

Article 2 : Definition of the competition

Raid Téranga 250 is a running race, with several stages, in food self-sufficiency over each day of race, and in free speed over a distance of around 250 km.  Each participant must bring his own racing equipment. Breakfast and dinner are provided by the organisation.

  

Article 3 : General requirements

Once registered to the race the competitors must comply with the competition full rules.

 

Article 4 : Eligibility of the competitors to run the race

Each man or woman over 18 years old, whatever his nationality, can participate to the race, providing that he/she meets the rule requirements and can provide a medical certificate with an electrocardiogram and its drawing issued less than one year ago at the date of reception of the registration form. 

Article 5 : Categories of competitors

There are only two categories of competitors : one male and one female category regardless of the competitors’ age.

February 20, 2015

Welcoming reception for the competitors in Kounoune from 6pm.

February 21, 2015

Start of the first stage at 10am. 25 km between Kounoune and Kayar. Night in bivouac on the beach.

February 22, 2015

Start of the second stage at 8:30am. 38 km between Kayar and Mboro. Night at Waou camp.

February 23, 2015

Start of the third stage starting at 8am. 42 km between Mboro and Kelle. Night in bivouac in the village.

February 24, 2015

Start of the fourth stage at 7:30am. 65km between Kelle and Louga Under the high voltage line. Probably the hardest stage both physically and mentally. For some competitors we can talk about a nightmare. Night at Fesfop de Louga camp.

February 25, 2015

Start of the fifth stage at 9am. 40km between Louga and Mpal. Probably the most beautiful stage with bivouac at arrival.

February 26, 2015

Start of the sixth stage at 8am. 37 km between Mpal and Saint Louis with arrival at the end of Faidherbe bridge. Snack at finish line, evening and night at the Hotel de la Poste in Saint Louis.

February 27, 2015

10h00am, transfer of the competitors to Dakar.

 

Article 7 : Technical and administrative checking

They will take place on the morning of departure. For all competitors, the list of the equipment carried each day will be checked. There is no weight limitation and the competitors must carry their survival equipment. By registering to Raid Téranga 250  the competitors commit themseves to behave responsibly. The organisation reminds that they can transport the competitors’ luggage throughout the race. The compulsory equipment is : a precise compass, a headlamp and working batteries, a survival blanket. Leggings are strongly recommended.

 

Article 8 : Identification marks

There is no obligation from the organisation at this level. Each competitor will be identified by a bracelet with his number throughout the race. Each competitor is free to be sponsorized as he wishes. His  » body surface  » remains his property.

 

Article 10 : Start kick off

All starts will go simultaneously.

 

Article 11 : Checkpoints

Checkpoints are set up every 10 km. At each checkpoint the competitor is ticked off by the race controller and provided with water. Checkpoints are compulsory.

 

Article 12 : Stage arrival

The competitor is informed of his running time and receives water for the recovery phase.

 

Article 13 : Classification

The running times are measured in hours and minutes. The ranking of each stage is determined by adding the actual running time and possible penalties. The general classification of the race is determined by adding the time of all stages.

 

Article 14: Water supply

The organisation is responsible for the supply of water to each competitor as follows : 1.5 litre at start. 1.5 litre every ten kilometers . 3 litres at arrival.

The distribution of water will be made each morning before the start. The bottles will be numbered and collected back at the end of each stage. There will be a penalty for each bottle not recovered. The empty bottles can be left at each checkpoint.

 

Article 16 : Medical assistance

A medical team will be present at the race and step in when needed by the competitors. The medical team will be empowered to put out of the race any competitor who will be declared unfit to continue the race. The opinion of the medical team is sovereign. Each competitor may, if he wishes, be treated by a physiotherapist at arrival of each stage.

 

Article 17 : Withdrawal

A competitor should in no case withdraw from the race without officially advising the organisation. A discharge document must be signed by the competitor for DDA to allow the competitor to withdraw from the race.

 

Article 18: Land assistance

The race being runned in self-sufficiency, land assistance is prohibited.

 

Article 19 : Insurance

All competitors registered are covered by the organisation insurance. They are de facto members of DDA association and receive full assistance and possible repatriation benefits.

However, it is reminded that : each competitor participates with full knowledge of the risks that may occur during the race. Competitors participate under their own individual responsibility. The organisation takes no liability for physical failure or accident.

It is strongly recomended by DDA that each competitor subscribes to an individual insurance for accident and death.

 

Article 20: Climatic and track conditions

Average temperatures are 23 ° for Dakar and 22 ° for St. Louis. But careful, these are  average temperatures only !

Race conditions are : sand and flexible track for most part of the route. There will be no difficulty with the difference in level which is low or even insignificant. However the adhesion of the track may lead to a decrease of the race rythm compared to numerous similar races. 98 % of the route is off bitumen.

 

Article 21: Markings

Competitors must follow the race markings. There will be markings on the ground, paintings on the trees, road tape and checkpoints. 

 

 

 

Article 22: Itinerary book

A general road map is established at the end of last surveys conducted by the organisation. The final route will be announced the day before the race. Openrunner stages are only indicative of the places crossed. The itinerary book will be given to each competitor in Kounoune on February 20, 2015 .

 

Article 23: Registration, entry fees, medical and administrative obligations

The amount of the entry fees is 800 euros. This amount includes :

• Stewardship package

• Water for the duration of the race

• Organisation management

• Medical assistance
